Every fourth Wednesday of the month, four women gather for a game of bridge at the home of Mrs. Leeflot. Year of the 1962nd and lady Leeflot, like every white lady who keeps to himself in Jackson, Mississippi, a black maid - dignified and wise Aibileen who is raising Mae Mobley, the daughter of his employer, and as she says herself, "her seventeenth white child."
Minny is Aibileenina best friend, a cook and a woman "probably the longest big mouth in Mississippi." I just got a job at the infamous attractive inundation blondes that despise all respectable ladies in town.
The novel weaves together the stories of three women, two maids and one open-minded girls while they secretly meet and to risk everything they have in order to liberate zagušujućih limit that determines their town and their times in which they live.
